This year St. Johns River Water Management District's Blue School Grant Program is doubling the amount of grant funding available to $20,000, with up to $2,000 per teacher to middle and high school teachers to enhance student knowledge of Florida's water resources. Public and charter school teachers within the district's boundaries are eligible to apply. They are sure to see some interesting learning experiences for these teachers' students. Among first-year projects were hands-on water quality experiments in which students compared stormwater ponds at Pedro Menendez High School (St. Augustine), to water conservation projects at a school garden irrigation system at Matanzas High School (Palm Coast), to First Coast Technical High School (St. Augustine) where students visited a working organic farm in Duval County.
